Insulation is a very
important part of one's energy conservation measures. Insulation
inside walls helps to prevent heat from escaping from (or penetrating
into) the home. Insulation in the attic slows the loss of heat
into (or out of) the attic. On a warm summer day, attics can become
sweltering hot!
Insulating foam can be
installed on hot water lines to slow the cooling of the hot water
in the pipes. In addition, an insulation blanket can be installed
around a water heater to help keep the hot water from cooling.
Insulation can be installed
in the crawlspace under the home's floor, to slow the movement
of heat through the floor.
In addition, insulation
has the added benefit of deadening sound. For example, insulation
can be installed inside interior walls to quiet the transmission
of sound through the wall.
I
have added insulation to hot water pipes.
I
have installed rolls of insulation above ceilings and under floors.
I have also installed
insulation inside walls as they were being constructed.
